Potato Print Easter chicks

March 20th, 2010

These adorable chicks are a great way to celebrate Springtime.

Age group: 18 months+

What you need:

  • Thin Foam pads (like those used for cleaning)
  • Potatoes
  • paint
  • Paper
  • orange card
  • black felt tip

What to do:

  1. place a foam pad onto a plate
  2. pour some yellow paint onto it and rub (you have now created a “ink pad”.
  3. Cut a potato in half and press the flat side into the paint.
  4. make sure the whole flat side is covered in paint and then press it to a clean sheet of paper to make the bodies. Allow to dry.
  5. Cut small triangles from the orange card for beaks.
  6. Stick them onto the chicks body shapes
  7. Draw legs, wings, a tail and an eye using the felt tip pen.

* You could use a googly eye instead of drawing one.

* Glue yellow feathers onto the body shape for wings.
