Shaving Cream Art
January 1st, 2010
Did you know that all you need to keep you toddler smiling is a can of shaving foam? Try this activity for lots of messy fun.
Age group: 2+ years
What you need:
- Shaving foam
- A tray or work surface
- food colouring (optional)
What to do:
- Spray the foam onto the tray or worksurface.
- Allow your toddler to draw or write in it.
- They can keep rubbing it smooth for another chance to experiment.
As a fun alternative, add a couple of drops of food colouring to make it even more inviting. You can also add some toy animals-I like to vary the type..so perhaps this time use sea creatures and the next insects etc Toddlers love digging for the animals and rubbing the foam off to see what they have found!
This activity is also great for little ones who are learning to write, especially reluctant writers. It is a fun way to practice letters and words and feels more like playing than learning.
Remember to protect the area as food colouring can stain. This activity should be supervised as very young children may need reminding not to taste the foam!
