Festive Handprint Wreath

November 18th, 2009

Use your toddlers sweet little handprints to make a special Christmas wreath.

Age group: 0-5 years

What you need:

  • A ring cut out of cardboard (the size that you’d like your wreath to be).
  • Green paint*
  • a few sheets of White paper*
  • Scissors (adult to use these)
  • Glue
  • Ribbon (red/gold/silver)

What to do:

  1. Paint your child’s hand green.
  2. Press it to the paper.
  3. Repeat until you have many handprints.
  4. Allow the paint to dry and cut out the handprints.
  5. Adhere each handprint by the heel of the hand, to the cardboard ring so that the fingers are facing out of the circle.
  6. Repeat until all the handprints are used. For a fuller wreath, overlap the handprints slightly.

To decorate:

  • Add a festive ribbon bow at the top.
  • You could also make little red fingerprint dots with paint or out of red paper to stick on as berries.
  • Outline the fingers with a little green glitter
  • Stick on some sparkly stars

* If you would rather not use paint, draw around your child’s hand on green paper and cut them out instead.
