Party Time Bunting
December 31st, 2009
Thinking of having a party? Here is a simple, effective way to brighten up any venue no matter what size or shape it is..These are even great outdoors.
Age group: 3 years old+
What you need:
- Fabric, paper, card, old plastic bags in the colour of your party theme.
- String or cord the length of the area you want to decorate.
- Stapler (if you are using paper, card or plastic)
- Needle and thread or sewing machine (if you are using fabric.)
- scissors
What to do:
- Cut out triangle shapes from the material you are using- make them fairly large (I usually fold an A4 page in half and thenfold the corners in to make a triangle as my template). Pincing shears make lovely paterns on fabric triangles and save you having to stitch a seam.
- Fabric triangles: using a needle and thread/sewing machine, sticth a thin seam along one edge of the triangle, large enough to thread the string through. When all triangles are done, thread them onto the string/cord and your’ew done!
- Paper/card/plastic triangles: Lay each triangle along the string and fold one edge over it. Staple the folded edge over the string to hold it in place. Repeat for all the triangles.
Other ideas:
- use sparkly papers or fabric to bring a little glitz and galmour to your decor.
- use plain paper and have your children decorate each triangle with paint, stickers, glitter, stamps or felt tip pens. (*Little handprints look fabulous!)
- Dangle strips of matching paper/fabric between each triangle for a little more fullness.
These are so easy and if you take the time to make the fabric bunting, will last for many parties to come…
Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year everyone!
