Our weekend in pictures… A formal Jazz themed fiftieth birthday party at Woburn Hotel, and a trip to Woburn Safari Park.
Our weekend in Woburn
Woburn is a residential village and tourist attraction in Bedfordshire, England. Aside from the Abbey and the Safari Park, tourists can visit the Georgian centre and the Woburn Heritage Centre local history museum. We were limited for time, so we chose what we thought would be the most suitable for us and our young children. After checking out of the hotel, we headed to the safari park. It was certainly a day worth doing. We were able to explore the huge park in our car spotting an extensive variety of animals of all shapes and sizes.
My children thoroughly enjoyed the monkey area, with the cheeky monkeys hitching rides on the car roof and playing with the windscreen wipers. We were in awe of the lions lying peacefully in the grass as the row of cars crawled by. We were thrilled by the huge rhino’s that wandered between the lane of cars and tickled by the mother elephant and her calf.
Once on foot, we enjoyed looking at all the smaller animals and those in aquatic environments.
We had a wonderful weekend away filled with people we love and places we had never been before. It is a lovely place to visit and we enjoyed the hotel, the town and the safari park immensely. You can read about what the safari park was like in another post.
I made a cupcake tower to a jazz theme for the birthday girl and had great fun using glitter and gold to “jazz” them up. I filled the lemon cupcakes with lemon curd and the chocolate ones with chocolate and a white chocolate buttercream! They were thoroughly enjoyed by all the guests. Yay!
