We spent a crisp clear winter’s day driving and walking around Woburn Safari Park.
We bought our tickets online so arrived and just had to show a booking reference. We were given maps and children’s activity sheets and information books about the animals we could see on our way round the park. There was also a list of show and chats with the timings so that we could attend these if we wanted to.
We decided to do the safari drive first. This took us passed the larger animals and carnivore and monkey enclosures. On our way round we saw elephants, ostriches, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, tigers, lions, monkeys, wolves, bears and various deer all from the warmth and comfort of the car.
To stretch our legs and a toilet break, we headed to the leisure area with it’s restaurants and shops. As we wandered along the foot safari route through the various sections, we saw sea lions, penguins, various birds, giant tortoises, meerkats, lemurs, marmosets, sheep, goats, and wallabies.
The delight in the children’s voices and on their faces was worth every penny and all the walking and fresh air really tired them out.
We ended our day by going for a ride on the Great Woburn Railway which winds it’s way through the park amongst the deer and antelope.
Woburn Safari Park was clean, organised and beautiful with many other facilities we did not even get to. A giant indoor play area, outdoor play parks, two restaurants, action trail, go ape, tiny tots safari to mention a few. We did not take in any of the shows as the park is so large, we wanted to get around as much of it as possible in the shorter winter hours. We’ll definitely visit again in the summer when there is more daylight!
