The Adventures of Jingle, our Christmas Elf – Day 14: Our sweet and generous Christmas elf was snuggled up inside one of the stockings that are hanging from the mantel over the fireplace today. Around his neck was a super sparkly and glittery silver Christmas ornament. It was his name and it had 3 tiny bells hanging off the bottom. Jingle ‘s note asked us to hang it in the tree so that every time we see it, we will think of him. He also asked us to offer to help someone else today.
In the afternoon, we attended our local village church Christingle service. This is a lovely start to the Christmas season and serves as a reminder to us and the children as to the real reason for Christmas celebrations. After listening to the nativity story, and finding out about the symbolism behind the Christingle, they handed out the Christingles and dimmed the church lights. The candles were lit and we spent a moment enjoying the lovely glow.
Do you enjoy a Christingle service with your family? I’d love to hear from you about any Christmas traditions your family observe together.
