Music is present in many areas of our daily lives. From live musical scores in theatre to television, mainstream movies, a celebration of worship through song, special holiday and celebration songs, and a variety of ceremonial services, singing and music play a significant role in our culture. In our homes, music can become part of our family—a natural part of our daily interactions and lives.
Most young children love to sing and learn new songs. Singing encourages young children to more easily express their emotions and enhances their ability to communicate clearly and it exercises lip and tongue movement. One of the biggest benefits of singing is the repeated use of those muscles needed for speech.
When children sing it causes the brain to perform multiple tasks at once. This helps to develop memory. From recalling the lyrics to remembering a cue to start singing, a child’s brain learns to be able to handle more tasks and to perform those tasks simultaneously. Singing helps to teach children opposites, fast and slow, loud and quiet. It builds their vocabulary, language development, and self-expression. We’ve put together a few simple songs to teach your child during Spring and for Easter celebrations.
Here are some fun and easy songs and rhymes to teach your toddlers during Spring or at Easter. These songs are all sung to the tunes of popular nursery rhymes.

he had hop, hop, hopped away!

Music is a fun and simple way to stimulate a child’s cognitive development. It stimulates their right brain as they work at recognizing the melody, understanding the language, and rhythm. All of this helps them to develop spatial awareness and enhances their ability to recognize pictures and words. Music stimulates a child’s left-brain abilities such as sound discrimination, timing, numeric skills, and expressive language.
Apart from all the cognitive and developmental benefits that sinching and music afford your child, it is a great way for you to bond with your child. Start learning some of these songs today, and sing along with your little ones!
