It's Children In Need fundraising time and my children's school has asked that all to dress up as their hero or a superhero for the day.
My youngest was the easiest to dress as he had a choice of Superman, Spiderman and Batman in the dress up box, but my older son- he has outgrown the dress up stuff -and my daughter proved more tricky. I did not want to go and buy proper superhero costumes (yikes at the cost) so we decided to dress up as a our favourite Super hero family, The Incredibles. We're always joking that we are them as we are also a mum, dad and oldest daughter and 2 younger boys..meaning my hubby gets to be Mr Incredible (I think he secretly loves this!) I get to be Elastigirl (Wish I had her talents!), my girl child is Violet , middle boy is Dash and youngest boy is Jack-Jack. Since we already had my youngest with his heart set on Spiderman, we chose Dash and Violet for the other two.
I used red leggings, black shorts, red shirts and black gloves and black boots for each of them (all stuff we had in our regular clothes wardrobe). The masks were from our dress up box as my middle boy had a superhero themed birthday a few years back. To complete Violets' look (my girl is blonde) we added the black wig (also a dress up relic) I printed off the logo/badge/emblem for The Incredibles , laminated them (so that they at least last all day), and sewed them onto the red shirts. We finished off the outfits with official Pudsey Bear children's wristbands.
They were really pleased at the overall look we managed to create without shopping for anything.
While they went to school all excited and hyper (poor teachers) I baked some sugar cookies shaped as Pudsey Bear using the official Pudsey Bear cookie cutters I purchased last year. I also made yellow cupcakes with spotty sprinkles. These were sold after school at our Children In Need Cake Sale.
