Fruity Apple Raisin Christmas Stuffing
- 3/4 cup of minced onion
- 1 1/2 cups of chopped celery
- 1 cup of butter
- 7 cups of soft bread cubes
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 3 cups of finely chopped apples
- 3/4 cup of raisins
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of crushed sage leaves
- 1 teaspoon of thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
- In large pot, cook and stir onion and celery in butter until onion is tender.
- Stir in about 1/3 of bread cubes.
- Turn into deep bowl.
- Add remaining ingredients and toss.
- Stuff your turkey, duck or chicken just before roasting.
Yields 9 cups or enough for a 12 pound turkey.
Tip: If you have left over stuffing grease a baking pan and bake the stuffing at 180C until just turning brown – about 25-30 minutes. Serve as a side dish.
