A friend has recently told me about an organization whose mission it is to get adults reading to children at least 15 minutes each day.
Is it important to read to your child?
Do you read to your child(ren) at least 15 minutes a day? I know I am guilty of skipping the reading session with mine if we’ve had a late afternoon and a rushed time to get to bed.
I used to be really good when I had only the one child, but now with 3 of them, I often feel that I just want them to get into bed on time. Aside from the obligatory daily reading homework my older children have, I like to read 3 story/ picture books before bed, which would take around 20 minutes. And yes, it is still a valuable activity to do even if you are reading the book yet again as children learn through repetition.
This site provides tips on making reading more enjoyable for you and your child.
