I love to bake with my children. It is a lovely way to spend time together. It is a valuable teaching possibility and you end up with something delicious you can all enjoy together. My children liken this dough to play dough, but they cheekily admit, it tastes better than play dough mum!
This super simple sugar cookie recipe is easy enough for even your youngest to master. With a few ordinary ingredients, you can make a pile of more-ish cookies that are perfect with a cup of warm milk or tea. It is also a super cookie to use with cookie cutters. We like to do themes when we bake them. We’ve made animals, flowers, shapes, transport and Halloween treats.
I like to use this recipe for my children’s parties and even as the ones they take to school on their birthday to hand out to friends.** We colour the dough with food colouring, add chocolate chips or sprinkles for colour or a different texture and they come out perfect every time.
These sugar cookies are sure to become a staple go-to recipe for a fun afternoons baking.

*Choc chips/nuts/currants/smarties can be added at stage 3 *Be careful when removing from baking tray-these harden as they cool-so let them cool for about 5 minutes before moving them or they can break. Once cool they harden nicely and are perfect for decorating.
