Toddlers love glueing and this craft project will give them the opportunity to stick wooden lolly sticks onto a hedgehog body shape to create their own little woodland friend.
Age group: 18 months +
What you need:
- Outline of a hedgehog body (without the prickles) drawn on heavy paper or card
- Craft lolly sticks
- PVA
- Dried real leaves or leaf shapes torn from Autumn coloured paper.
What to do:
- Colour the body of your hedgehog with felt tips/crayons or pencils.*
- Using PVA, adhere the lolly sticks along the back of the hedgehog to create the prickles.
- Stick leaves all around the bottom of the page to make it seem like the hedgehog is in a pile of leaves.
TIP: *If you prefer, you can cut out the Hedgehog shape before adhering the sticks. You can then use the hedgehog shapes in a display with other woodland creatures made out of natural materials.
*The body of the hedgehog can be painted or drawn directly onto the coloured card if you don’t want to colour it by hand. Think about using Autumn colours for the card for extra effect.
*It also looks great if you cover the body in a mixture of seeds/beans/rice or lentils instead of colouring.
